Mum (60ish) and I thought the Grand Cavour was absolutely everything we wanted for our mini-break in Florence.
Most importantly, the location is incredible. Short walking distance to all central Florentine sights.
The hotel lobby is grand and puts in the mood for delving into Florentine history. The rooms are more plain, but well-appointed.
Breakfast is a good buffet.
There is a roof terrace, good for postcard-writing... or maybe take a bottle of wine up there in the evening?
There is no bar at the hotel but plenty in the vicinity.
This is a good-quality 3-star. I would probably not stay anywhere else in Florence uinless I were looking for a luxury expereince.
