We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of season with our 2 young boys...
While the hotel staff were relatively friendly the oter guest were not!!! We were one of only 2 British couples staying here.
The hotel itself was very grand and beautiful, and all areas were clean however the food was served cold on most days and Brits were not catered for.
Part way through our stay it was Russian graduation, the hotel pulled out all the stops to make it an enjoyable time for the young people to the point where the kids were allowed to do pretty much anything they liked!!!! NOISE, BOOZE, TESTOSTERONE, DAMN IGNORANCE was very acceptable from them, where as the rest of us staying in the hotel became second class citizens.
We stayed all inclusive yet were limited to the amount of drinks permitted at any 1 visit to the bar, the bar closed at 10pm and we could only consume drink from 1 bar in the hotel, if we went to another we had to pay! I do not know any other all inc package where they shut the hotel bar after a certain time...It was promised that there was in house animation, in our whole weeks stay we did not encounter this once!!!!! I feel that had we been travelling without children the hotel staff would not make any attempt to be polite towards us, but as our 2 boys age 3 and 1 were travelling with us, they were pleasent and tried to help.
We met a very nice British couple at the hotel (1 of the only 2 Brits) who had a rotten experience compared with ours, I am sure they will be making comments on their stay, but after a rather nasty experience with Bulgarian sales men, were also robbed while sitting by the pool, the ladies bag was stolen so she reported it to the hotel who said "there are lots of Gypsy kids staying in the hotel today!" while the bag was later returned and found on the 3rd floor it was missing the ladies rather expensive and sentimental gold bangle and a small amout of cash nothing else was taken so a clearly targeted encounter!!! The hotel were not willing to help as the couple were travelling back to the UK that evening!!!! I will book for Sunny Beach next year but over my dead body will I return to the planeta, it was a very pleasent and clean hotel but in a nutshell the food was garbage (cold) and hotel staff only looked after other nationalities, I believe they do not want british customers never intended us Brits to stay there this is why our reputable travel agents do not advertise Planeta in their brochures!!!!
